Welbeck signs new contract

Danny Welbeck has signed a new contract at Manchester United, tying him to the club until at least Summer 2013.

The 19 year old striker is very highly rated by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, so it was a priority for him to sign the youngster on a longer deal.

“We are delighted. We see Danny as one of the great young players who has emerged from the academy,” he told the official website.

“He will have a terrific career and we are glad that he has placed his trust in us with his future.”

Danny, from Longsight, Manchester, revealed that there was only ever one club he wanted to play for.

“I am really happy, there was never a doubt that this is where I want to be.

“I am enjoying every minute and learning so much from all the great players that are here. I would like to thank Sir Alex, the club and the fans for all their support.”
