Vidic misses Wolfsburg trip

Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out of Manchester United’s trip to Wolsburg with the flu, making their already injury ravaged defence even weaker.

Vidic joins a long list of United absentees including Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, John O’Shea, Rafael and Fabio Da Silva.

Vidic was expected to partner midfielder Michael Carrick in central defence, but it now looks like Fletcher – who was set to play right back – will partner Carrick instead.

Fortunately United have already qualified for the next stage of the Champions League, but they still require a point to guarantee winning the group.
