United and Liverpool in joint protest? Not a chance!
Manchester United and Liverpool have several things in common. They’re both clubs that are steeped in history. They both have 18 league titles. And they both have blood sucking American leeches that are running them into the ground financially.
Now it’s being suggested on several forums that the clubs should join together in a dual protest for maximum effect, but could it really work?
Our rivalry is among the worst in the country and I’m skeptical as to whether it can be overcome for a joint protest. Can we really forget the Munich chants? Can we really forget the airplane gestures? Can we really forget them throwing cups filled with shit on us? Can we really forget them rocking Alan Smith’s ambulance?
I for one can’t imagine Liverpool and United fans at Old Trafford in March caring about anything other than what’s going on on the pitch. For all the good intentions and planning and preparation, as soon as a bad tackle goes in or the first goal is scored, the protest will go out of the window and the rivalry will immediately be the main priority, and rightly so.
Why should we join them anyway? We protested when the Glazer’s were taking over our club, so much so that Glazer himself was rushed out of Old Trafford under a police escort. The scousers on the other hand were happy to bend over and take 12 inches of American meat as long as it meant getting more financial backing. We maintained our self respect from the very beginning, while they’ve only started wanting the American’s out when it was discovered they’re not much better than the Glazer’s.
So when someone asks you if you’d stand side by side with a Liverpool fan to protest against the Glazer’s, Hick’s and Gillett’s of this world, remember all those things mentioned above and tell them where to go.

Hmmm, no Hillborough chants then from your fans? No Heysel chants? Do me a favour. Look at the chants you make against Wenger…
Dead right..no joint protest as they have hocked your future far worse than ours.

Sean, the point is that a joint protest would never work because the rivalry and history between the two clubs is too great. Our fans are no angels either and I don’t claim that they are, but throwing cups filled with shit and trying to overturn an ambulance beyond low.

The ambulance thing was a myth united always throw about and never really happened. The munich chants, yes but not as bad as a whole stadium singing “without killing anyone….” and “murderers…” United fans have this moral high ground and “everyone’s against us” attitude but it’s crap.

Guys Guys. As an Everton fan I can be objective. Yes Liverpool fans are the lowest kind of scum. But I’ve been spat at had hot tea poured on me and abused at old trafford too.
