United bid £9million plus Nani for Benfica winger

Manchester united manager Sir Alex Ferguson has started his transfer activity early this year, by bidding £9million plus Nani for Benfica winger Angel Di Maria, according to reports in Portugal.

Sir Alex has apparently lost patience in inconsistent winger Nani, who has hardly featured this season despite expecting more opportunities since Ronaldo’s departure.

The United boss watched Di Maria in action at Goodison Park last month, when Everton lost 2-0 to Benfica and he is said to have been impressed with what he saw, prompting the bid for his services.

Benfica however, will be reluctant to sell mid season, and will want substantially more than £9million plus Nani if they are to accept the offer.
