Tevez admits confusion over pathetic poster campaign
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has criticized his own club for the small time poster they put up around the City after they secured his signature.
The poster featured a picture of Tevez (ironically celebrating a goal for Manchester United against Wigan) with the caption, ‘Welcome to Manchester’. The poster was allegedly a poke at United, whose Old Trafford home has been outside of the city limits since the Local Government Act was introduced in 1972.
United were founded in Manchester, and the boundary changes mean that technically the stadium is outside of those boundaries. Manchester City on the other hand, were formed in West Gorton, which at the time was not part of Manchester. So technically they were never really from Manchester, they just moved here. That’s a secret though, so don’t tell anyone.
Back to the issue, and Carlos Tevez is less than pleased at the behaviour of his employers and insists the poster was nothing to do with him.
“I never understood the intention of that poster,” said the kettle spilling Argie. “What was the point? Tell me. Was it to welcome me to Manchester City, or was it to anger Manchester United? – Nobody ever told me !”
“I’m indifferent towards it, but it is important you know I had nothing to do with the poster. I’d have preferred for it not to have been there. I have respect for all the clubs I used to play for. That was not showing respect, was it?”
It seems nobody told Carlos that Manchester City’s number one focus is and always will be trying to get out of the shadow of their more successful neighbours. Even when funded by a billionaire and aiming for the pinnacle of football, the first thing on their mind was Manchester United. They say a picture paints a thousand words. In this case only one is needed – Bitter!

It’s when you didn’t talk about us that we worried.
tick follows tock.
We’ve always talked about you Bertie. Your club has been a source of comedy for many many years.
Nice one! *LOL*
I think you will find that Gorton has been in Manchester wellbefore city wereformed. That’ a fact, not an opinion.
You might want to sack your researchers as wikipedia states “It is widely accepted that Manchester City F.C. was founded as St. Mark’s (West Gorton) in 1880 by Anna Connell and two churchwardens of St. Mark’s Church, in Gorton, a district in east Manchester”. Never the less we are still at presant the only team in Manchester and that is what counts for this and the next generation of City fans. Either shut up about it or change your name
Dave, my researchers do a fantastic job. Yours on the other hand leave a lot to be desired.
As you have quite rightly pointed out, manchester City was founded in 1880, however West Gorton didn’t become part of the City of Manchester until 1890, ten years later.
Typical bitter blue though Dave. You know nothing about your history.

I don’t expect you’ll be back though. It’s difficult to admit when you’re completely wrong, especially when it shows your lack of knowledge about your own football club.
Landseer, see the above comment and then please look up ‘fact’ in the dictionary.
