Sir Alex praises Ronaldo

Sir Alex Ferguson has named Cristiano Ronaldo as his most important signing of the last decade.

The Portuguese winger helped Manchester United win three Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup and one Carling Cup, in what has turned out to be one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

That return was easily worth the 12 million Sir Alex paid for him when he was a youngster at Sporting and helped United get over missing out on Ronaldinho.

“He was fantastic. Just a marvellous player,” Sir Alex told Inside United.

“We missed out on Ronaldinho but it was the same summer we signed Ronaldo which more than softened the blow.

“We’d agreed a deal with Ronaldinho but all of a sudden, whatever happened with Peter Kenyon and the other agents, the deal fell apart.”

  1. He is worth some praise, but please lets get over him and think forward.

We have some very great youngsters coming through at the club now.

We manage without Ronaldo, we are UNITED!!

  2. I agree Mikkkke, we’ve lost many great players over the years like Cantona, Keane, van Nistelrooy and we always get over it because the other players step up.

Here’s hoping the likes of Welbeck, Gibson and Macheda can develop into the players they’re capable of being.
