Saha hoping United beat Chelsea in title race

Everton striker Louis Saha is hoping his former club can beat rivals Chelsea to the Premier League crown again this year.

The ex Manchester United forward would love Everton to win the league, but after acknowledging that that’s unlikely to happen, he selected united as the team he’d like to be crowned Champions in May.

“If you ask me who’s going to win the title, I’d love to say Everton, but obviously that’s not going to happen, and if not, then I would like to see United do it again,” Saha said.

“I think it will be tight between the top two. Chelsea are very strong, but I think United are better – and personally I would be delighted if they won it. I’d definitely prefer that.

Saha also revealed he still keeps in touch with his old team mates, but thinks he’ll be getting a few more phone calls after scoring twice in a 2-1 win against Chelsea yesterday.

“I still keep in touch with a lot of them from United, especially Patrice Evra. Wayne Rooney and Owen Hargreaves are on the phone a lot, and they’ve got a really good bunch of guys. But this morning I will probably have more messages and calls than ever.

“I know I will be getting a lot of calls now, and it is a big boost for my old club that Chelsea has lost. But the main thing has to be Everton, and taking us as high up the table as possible.”

  1. Firstly , i am an everton fan and me along with 99.9% evertonians hope united retain there crown this year. it will be great for united to overtake the sanctimonious , self pittying scumbags from the darkside of meseyside that will be a bitter pill for them to swallow. so come on utd push on and take the title and take the record . good luck for the rest of the season lads , apart from next saturday of course.

PS i loved your artical on the shite fans mocking heysel just puts them into prospective as the scum they realy are. we have bombarded the liverpool echo with e mails and letters but of course nothing will ever come of it as usual. Good luck with the site
