Rooney slept through World Cup draw!

Wayne Rooney has admitted that he missed the World Cup draw on Friday, because he was asleep!

The Manchester United and England striker had travelled down to London for the West Ham game the following day, but somehow drifted off to sleep watching television.

“I was asleep until 10pm,” he told Sky Sports.

“We got the train down to London and got to the hotel about 5pm.

“I lay down on my bed to watch television.

“I fell asleep and didn’t find out what the draw was until five hours later.”

Having seen the draw, Rooney is confident England will progress from their group, but singled out the USA as their toughest opponent.

“It was a good draw. I saw USA beat Spain in the Confederations Cup. That will be the difficult game,” he continued.

“I don’t know too much about Algeria but I’m sure the manager will have loads of information for us before the game.”
