Rio: Nani can do what he wants with his potential

England captain Rio Ferdinand says hard work and dedication are behind Nani‘s turnaround in form this season.

The portuguese winger has suffered with inconsistent performances during his Manchester United career, but after returning from injury in the second half of this season he has become one of the first names on Sir Alex Ferguson‘s team sheets.

“Nani’s really come on since Christmas,” Rio told manutd.com.

“He’s a young player learning the game and he’s got his head down and worked, really knuckled down.

“He’s seen the benefits of that by becoming an effective part of the team.

“The important thing is he’s producing an end product – scoring goals and setting up chances. Because of that he’s getting a consistent run in the team and any player benefits from that.”

Rio believes Nani’s potential means he can go to the very top and become an influential player at Old Trafford.

“Nani’s got the potential to do what he wants,” Rio added.

“He’s one of the sharpest players around, has a great strike with both feet – he’s got the potential to be a top, top player.

“If he continues the way he’s going he’ll be a great weapon for next season.”

  1. I have always liked and believed in Nani and it’s great to see his true potential. He seems to have a great work ethic and so do Cristiano so maybe he really can be the next Ronaldo.
