Reds confirm new signing

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Fulham’s Chris Smalling.

The 20-year-old centre back’s form for Fulham has apparently caught the eye of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who has swooped in to sign the youngster for next season.

Chris will stay with Fulham to finish the current campaign, and join United at the start of next season.

A statement on the official website said:

“Manchester United has agreed terms for the transfer of Chris Smalling from Fulham.

“Chris has agreed personal terms with the club and will join for the beginning of the 2010/2011 campaign. He will remain at Fulham until the end of the current season.”

  1. Yay! We have another defender to get injured! In all seriousness, hopefully this works out well, obviously, and turns into good business for us. Couldn’t help to have more cover for the back four, but SAF doesn’t seem to be playing the kids as much this year (and the past couple.) Hopefully he can progress through.
