New Premier League rule threatens Fergie’s BBC boycott

Sir Alex Ferguson could be forced to face the BBC cameras under a new Premier League rule that requires every manager to participate in post match interviews for UK broadcasters.

Rule Q17 in full, states that: “With effect from season 2010/11, all managers are required to attend in person and participate in post-match interviews held by or for the benefit of a UK broadcaster or radio broadcaster and failure to do so without just cause shall be a breach of these rules.”

Sir Alex has not spoken to the BBC since a Panorama programme which implied there were improper goings on between the club and his son Jason Ferguson, who was working as a football agent at the time.

Failure to abide by the new ruling could land Ferguson in trouble with the Premier League, who could impose sanctions on the Manchester United manager.
