Owen Hopeful Of Adding To 89 England Caps

Michael Owen has revealed that he still has hopes of wearing an England shirt again.

The Manchester United striker has not featured for Fabio Capellos’s England for over two years, and has seemingly falled behind Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent in the pecking order.

The clinical striker has 89 caps for the national team and is hoping to add to that number, despite Capello’s current stance of bringing in new players.

“I’ve got 89 caps so far,” Owen said. “I played for England for many years, starting when I was 18.

“I played basically right the way through until about two years ago, which was my last game. So hopefully I will play for them again one day, you never know.”
