Mcleish aiming to finally beat Fergie
Birmingham boss Alex Mcleish is aiming to capitalize on Manchester United’s recent poor form by beating them at St. Andrew’s on Saturday.
The Blues have gone 12 games without defeat and Mcleish aims to extend that run at the expense of the champions.
“The big one for all of us who have played for Sir Alex is to beat him – but you’re not allowed,” McLeish told premierleague.com.
The Scot was returning praise that Sir Alex Ferguson gave him yesterday. He admits the main goal of all players that played under Ferguson is to beat him.
“I’ve never done it. We lost 1-0 at Ibrox in the Champions League when I was manager of Rangers and then got thumped 3-0 down the road.
“I’ve lost two games since I’ve been here at Birmingham – both 1-0 – so I’m getting closer.”
Mcleish also praised Ferguson for the way he mentors other managers.
“I do pick up the phone to him sometimes and I get phone-calls from him.
“We all like to think ‘I’m his best protégé’ or ‘I’m his best pal’ but he’s got millions and they are not only players who’ve played for him.
“The amount of managers who phone him or are friendly with him is incredible and they revere him.

its st andrews . and 12 games unbeaten
Stretty should be reminded that we don’t play at St. Mary’s, we play at St. Andrews.
Southampton play at St. Mary’s. Southampton is in Hampshire. Birmingham is in the West Midlands. Do I need to draw you a picture?? And Mr. McLeish has a capital ‘L’ in his surname all of the time, not just occasionally, as shown in the article.
Sorry fellas. It’s been a long day.
