Man Utd vs Rangers – test the youth
Rangers up! Lets test the young boys!
United play Rangers in a weeks’ time, with the battle of Britain tag looming large. Even though there is an assumed gap between the leagues the Old Firm in general have put on a good showing, against English sides. This is an ideal time to test some of our younger players in what will be a low risk big game for them.
Chris Smalling should get the nod to start his first game, partnering preferably Vidic. He has been fed little bits and pieces here and there, but I am not sure how much he can learn from twenty minute substitute appearances. The boy needs games and I am sure he will be looking to Fergie for his set of guaranteed games. It would therefore be great to see him tested in all our Champions League group stage games.
Javi Hernandez could do with getting very much the same opportunity. However it’s fair to accept that United have a big problem. Rooney looks as if he is still suffering and needs in my eyes about another month off. Whilst Berbatov has made a steady start to the season. So should Javi be given the chance and risk disrupting Dimitar’s decent start.
Darron Gibson for me is a man playing on borrowed time, had Anderson not got injured I think Gibson would no longer be at the club. The player brings shooting ability but after that I am not sure which distinct quality or qualities he has to back that up. Some chances in the Champions League are definitely what he needs to prove one way or the other. If he can shine there, then it proves Sir Alex is right to keep him on.
Now let me give you my line up for the Rangers game. It’s based on the fact that the group stage is a formality. Therefore United should be able to make two or three changes and still see themselves through. However perhaps fielding a full strength side against the mighty Valencia in both games.

Don’t take it for granted that this game is a gimmie. Rangers might surprise a few people and have a strong team from 1-13. Probably best to field his strongest team to avoid embarrassment.
Yeah..it’s a formality!..The same way England were going to sweep aside every team in the World cup but ended up luckily qualifying out the group stages only to be destroyed by Germany.
Rangers haven’t anywhere near the quality Man-Utd have..but we’ll have 11 players fighting tooth and nail..and Bougherra..the man who gave Rooney not a sniff in the World cup.
Man-utd will play their strongest team as it’s the first game in the Champions lge of that I’m sure.
WHO DO U THINK U ARE CALLING THIS A FORMALITY RANGERS WILL CUM DOWN AND SHOW UZE WHO IS THE TOP DOG IN BRITAIN HOME AND AWAY AND RANGERS ARE MUCH STRONGER THAN VALENCIA W,A,T,P
