Hughton happy with Simpson

Danny Simpson has received praise from Newcastle manager Chris Hughton.

The United defender is enjoying a loan spell in the Championship at Newcastle and scored his first goal for the club in the victory over Peterbourough.

He hasn’t always played in his preferred position, but the Newcastle manage praised his motivation to play, even in positions unfamiliar to him.

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle: “He’s played two or three games at centre-half, and at left-back.

“When you approach him about that, he just wants to play.

“He’s a good character to have around, and I’m really pleased for him.

“That goal for him was a great moment and a great reward.”
