Hargreaves back in January, Edwin heads to Holland
Sir Alex Ferguson expects Owen Hargreaves to be back in the Manchester United squad at the end of January.
The midfielder hasn’t played for United since September 2008, following surgery on both knees to correct a recurring injury, but is now back in training.
It was originally hoped that Hargreaves would have recovered by November, but Sir Alex believes it’ll now be the end of January before he’ll be fit enough to join the first team.
“Owen’s doing a bit better this week, and he’s coming along slowly,” Sir Alex told Sky Sports.
“Hopefully he’ll be back at the end of January.”
Sir Alex also revealed that Edwin Van der Sar is heading home to the Netherlands to have treatment on the knee injury he sustained in last month’s 3-0 win over Everton.
“Edwin is going back to Holland.
“It is a change of scenery for him and the Holland team doctor will have a look at the injury.
“He has never had an injury like this in his life before, so we think it is a good idea and expect him back in a couple of days.”
