Giggs offers words of wisdom for youngsters
Ryan Giggs has offered some words of encouragement for the young players who suffered the agony of last week’s Champions League exit.
Giggs was himself a youngster at United and suffered his own setbacks in his early career, but 11 league titles later he knows it’s how you react to defeats that makes you a Manchester United player.
“It’s how you react to setbacks that decides if you are good enough for Manchester United.”
“When I was 18 and 19, I had a lot of disappointments.
“This can help you in the long run. You can remember nights like last Wednesday and realise you don’t want to feel like that again. You try to do something about it and try to improve.
“You’ve got to take knocks but it is how you come back from them. That’s what makes a Manchester United player.”
Giggs prefers to look to the positives of Wednesday night despite the disappointment of losing the quarter final tie on away goals to Bayern Munich.
“There were still so many positives the other night for a relatively young side. Rafael was brilliant in the first half – he didn’t give Ribery a kick.
“It was just unfortunate he got sent off. So many young players performed and there were so many positives to come out of the game – Nani’s performance, Darron Gibson’s performance. There were so many great displays, it’s hard to take.
“Europe sometimes kicks you in the teeth.
