Giggs – Becks can play on for years

Ryan Giggs believes former team mate David Beckham can play on at the highest level for another four years.

The former Manchester United star is now at Italian side AC Milan, who United will play in the Champions League on Tuesday, and Giggs believes the way he has looked after himself means he can prolong his career beyond that of other players.

Both players are known for looking after their bodies off the pitch. And both have maintained their fitness to play at the highest level into their mid-thirties. Giggs though, has always shied away from the limelight whereas Beckham has thrived on it. Giggs says this hasn’t affected their friendship.

“We are different in the sense he has been in the limelight, front page and back, while I prefer to keep myself to myself,” said Giggs.

“But I still speak to him. He has not changed as a person.

“He has always loved football. He has always been dedicated and that is still the same now.

“Like myself, Becks looks after himself.

“He is naturally fit and is a natural athlete, so I am not surprised he is still going at all.

“In fact I reckon he will keep going for another three or four years.”
