Looks like I gave Liverpool too much credit!

I wrote a piece this morning insisting that the pride of the Liverpool players meant they’d try their best to beat Chelsea. How wrong I was.

If it wasn’t bad enough that the majority of Liverpool fans wanted their own team to lose, it now appears Steven ‘Starfish’ Gerrard has now sided with them.

The whiter than white Liverpool captain, who beats up nightclub DJ’s for refusing to play his favourite Phil Collins songs, provided a fantastic assist for Chelsea’s opening goal today.

He saw Drogba making an intelligent run and provided an inch perfect pass for the Ivorian striker to turn around Pepe Reina and put Chelsea in front.

I’ve never been one for conspiracy theories, but Gerrard is apparently not even trying to hide the fact that he’s a Chelsea fan for the day.

I half expected the Kop to jump up and cheer when the ball hit the back of the net. And I’m expecting more favours for Chelsea in the second half.

How pathetically small time do you have to become when your hatred for your rivals eclipses your love for your own club?

  1. how pathetically small time do you have to be to believe in such a ludicrous conspiracy theory. We have been told time and time again how poor our team is this year so which way is it? maybe if united did their job and stopped relying on other teams, you wouldnt even be needing to grasp at them straws

  2. Dry your eyes princess!

We’ve been very poor this season, but the 3 points we took of you this season have prevented you making it 19.

We’ll be back stronger next season, new money and new players and still level with you on league titles!

    Walk on!

  3. It’s a shame when your team is reduced to only putting the effort in for two games a season isn’t it King Scouse?

I guess that’s how it feels to be City, or Everton. Or now Liverpool. Small time.

  4. If United themselves hadn’t gifted Chelsea a win at Old Trafford they wouldn’t now be relying on Liverpool to win the league for them.

  5. kevin herring

poor little manc grow up you should win the league on ur results not some1 elses face FACTS ur not good enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Boo Hoo!

Like I said we’ve been very poor, we’ve got what we deserved this year. That’s how things go, but we will be back fighting next season.

We should congratulate Chelsea for winning the title though.

  7. To be fair Bertie, it was the referee/linesman that gifted Chelsea a win at Old Trafford with that offside goal.

  8. And also to be fair, it was also the referee that allowed Macheda’s handled goal to stand.

  9. ‘Smalltime’ and still the most successful club in England despite not being able to compete financially for how many years, and still capable of beating your lot with key players out.Nevermind eh, you can always put your shirts on next season, as long as you’re 4 points ahead with 1 game left.
    Glory,Glory,Manc supporters!
Congrats on winning the ‘Curling Cap’ this year.
If it wasn’t for your Scouse ‘Captain Chromosome’ ,you’d have been in the same state. We had a dreadful year, simple as.It happens.Once the club is sold and the debt is gone we’ll be back up there, you know it.

  10. At the end of the day, a weak Liverpool side missing their best and only real striker, lost to a strong in form Chelsea. We were never really going to beat them, but it’s nice to see the Mancs looking so desperate they’re supporting the Reds.

With the way money is being splashed at Eastlands, it’ll be the Blue half of Manchester fighting Chelsea for the title next season whilst the rest of us battle for 3rd and 4th.

  11. We tried in all our other matches and lost a fair amount of them, not sure why you would presume that it was purely a matter of effort and application.

Similarly when wolves decided not to try at old trafford it probably didn’t make any difference to the result but left a bitter taste for many.

  12. I’m sure you will be lapping up the sky sports assessment of Liverpool’s ‘lacklustre’ performance today. However Is it just me or was LFC’s passing and build up play today actually more impressive than for many other home games this season? including the united game? Our problem, as it has been all season is that we are toothless up front without Torres. A fact you have been berating us for all season… so you can’t have it both ways. Stop crying over your conspiracy theories and stop playing the voyeur and concentrate on your own team.

“With the way money is being splashed at Eastlands, it’ll be the Blue half of Manchester fighting Chelsea for the title next season whilst the rest of us battle for 3rd and 4th”

hahaha, this season is so bad for the scousers that they arent even talking about winning the title “next” season, now its the 3rd or the 4th, hahah, with these bunch of shit players liverpool have today, they need to bring in at least 10 world class players to be fighting for the 3rd or 4th next season and we all know that aint gonna happen.

  14. Sorry…. can someone explain to me why there are so many Liverpool fans reading and posting on this site? I dont think i’ve ever been on a Liverpool website… then again, Im not obsessed with seeing another team fail instead of seeing my own succeed.

  15. I see Bruce has rolled over yet again, he thinks he’s on for Fergies job, what a laugh there’s too many other ex manu players vying for that one.
And every season they roll over for him.

  16. Random Hero, when you see provocative headlines on Newsnow, it’s tempting to click them, see what propaganda is being peddled and pass comment.

If you want to read more into it than that, that’s your prerogative.
