Fergie: I don’t need to spend, my squad is good enough
Sir Alex Ferguson believes he has a strong enough squad that means he won’t have to get involved in the transfer market this January.
The Manchester united manager has faced a defensive crisis over the last couple of weeks, but believes that players are slowly returning to fitness.
“Jonny Evans could be back in ten days and John O’Shea will be with us in January,” Ferguson said in his Friday press conference.
“We are having a hard time with centre-backs at this moment in time but I am sure by January most of them will be back.”
He also rubbished the idea that he has no money to spend. Rumours have grown regarding his lack of money due to the increasing debt burden on the club, but Sir Alex insists he has money to spend if he can identify some ‘value’ in the market.
“It has been said I do not have the money,” he said. “But the money is there if I wanted to use it. I didn’t see any value in the summer and I don’t see any value at the moment either. I am happy with the players I already have at the club.”
