FA show double standards yet again when United are concerned
The FA proved yet again that they treat Manchester United differently today, by charging Rio Ferdinand with violent conduct.
There’s a general concensus amongst ABU’s that we’re looked on favourably by the FA, but the truth couldn’t be more different.
When Rio Ferdinand missed a drugs text he was banned for 8 months and given a 50 grans fine. When Manchester City‘s Christian Negouai missed a drugs test he was given a 2 grand fine, and no ban.
When Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney were sent off in the Amsterdam tournament they were banned for the start of the Premier League season. When Steven Gerrard was sent off in the same tournament a year earlier, no ban was given to the Liverpool captain.
When Robbie Fowler held up 5 fingers to United fans to indicate the number of European Cups Liverpool have won, no punihment was handed down, but when Gary Neville celebrated in front of Liverpool fans he was fined 5 grand and warned as to his future conduct.
Last month Javier Mascherano swung his arm at a Leeds player and no action was taken against him. On Saturday Rio Ferdinand did exactly the same thing and he has today been charged by the FA in yet another display of double standards.
Why do the FA continually punish Manchester United more harshly than any other team? I’m not defending Rio’s actions and any ban he receives will be fully deserved. To lash out like that on the pitch is worthy of a red card and a defender of his experience should not be behaving like that.
The issue is that the FA continually let players of other teams get away with things and then punish United players for identical ‘crimes’. They have shown time and time again that they reserve their most severe punishments for United.

It’s very of you to look at a few incidents here and there. And lets not even compare the Ferdinand and Christian Negouai case. The latter got stuck in a traffic jam and couldn’t reach in time.
Every team (atleast the top 4) end up getting a few decisions in it’s favour. Neville for example should have been charged for showing the finger. And don’t get me started on the preferential treatment of England’s great saviour, Wayne Rooney.

Rio deserves it though. I understand it, but I don’t like the comparisons with Mascherano though. Almost makes us sounds like scousers. On the bright side, at least its two less games for Rio to get injured in…
