FA must act against Gerrard or risk losing all credibility
Following Rio Ferdinand‘s arm swinging incident against Craig Fagan of Hull City last month, we were subjected to replays of the incident every five minutes on Sky Sports News.
The incident was quickly picked up on by the tabloids and the media was consistent in its belief that Ferdinand should be banned. He was charged and banned for 3 games, extended to 4 games on appeal after a successful media witch hunt.
Last night Steven Gerrard committed a much worse offence. He committed what was dubbed a ‘forearm smash’ by ESPN commentators on Portsmouth’s Michael Brown.
I’m no great fan of Michael Brown. After his sickening attempt to break Ryan Giggs‘ leg two seasons ago I’d love to have a crack at him myself, but this is about consistency.
Steven Gerrard must be punished for this offence. He escaped punishment for a red card offence last week after sticking two fingers up to the referee after the referee unbelievably stated that he’d seen the incident and didn’t deem it worthy of further punishment. This time though, the FA have to act or they risk showing themselves up to be not just inconsistent but also incompetent.
If the FA are anything like the English justice system; Gerrard will probably escape punishment after arguing that he was getting his retaliation in early, as he did when he cowardly attacked a nightclub DJ.

Stevie Me is a cunt, plain and simple!
Not holding my breathe on consistency from the FA. The way St Stevie’s playing maybe we’re better off with him playing for them against us.
Hmmm…Man U fans asking for Gerrard to be disciplined, just before we play you! Worried me thinks you are. If I were you I would worry about Torres – he is back on fire, Vidic must be having bad dreams at night…
So by back on fire you mean 2 goals vs. Pompey? Give me a break.
typical liverfool fans
Not worried by it we just want the same punishment that Rio got but because it’s not a United player the FA will let him off!
Peter Worth, United worried about Torres granted he is class when on form but scoring two goals against at best a Championship side isn’t that much to worry about. Think you lot should be more worried about a little striker called Wayne Rooney
As a Liverpool fan, I see Gerrard as a disgrace. Ive lost a lot of respect for him. It seems like he doesn’t care about the club and I see him leaving next season . in all fairness, he should be suspended. 3 match ban.
gerrard will get away with it, he always does, he did last week with his gesture n is one of the biggest divers in football. Rio got banned for less an adebayor got 3 games for alot less that Stevie G! Its prob coz he knows liverpool are screwed!!
i want him to play and hopefully God delivers justice to him fair and square.maybe he suffers a cruciate knee ligaments that rules him out for even the world cup!
dont care about the stupid FA
