Evra hoping for maximum points over Christmas period

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is hoping for maximum points from the rest of the reds games over the festive period.

Defeats to Fulham and Aston Villa have left United trailing Chelsea by four points in the league, but the Christmas period is traditionally the time when United start hitting form and kick on to the end of the season and Evra believes they’ll have to if they’re going to catch Chelsea.

“It’s a crucial time,” he told Sky Sports. “We lost against Aston Villa and Fulham but the target is to win every game we can from now on.

“We always do well in this period and now, more than ever, we need victories.”

A contributing factor for both defeats was the massive injury list which United are currently carrying. At times Evra has been the only natural defender in the starting line up, alongside midfielders Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher. He has tried to share his experience with them in the hopes that they can develop a good understanding when they play together.

“I try to give experience at the back and make sure we all speak to each other,” he continued.

“It’s not easy but we have a strong squad, and you have to be able to play anywhere to win the title.”
