Evans suffers calf injury

Jonny Evans has suffered a calf injury on international duty during Northern Ireland’s friendly defeat to Serbia.

The Manchester United centre half was withdrawn at half time during the 1-0 loss and boss Nigel Worthington confirmed the injury in his post match comments.

“It’s only fair to Jonny and United that we took him off. We’ve put him in ice and we’ll know more in the next 24 hours.”

Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping it’s not too serious, as first choice defensive pairing Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have also struggled with injuries this season.

  1. He shouldn’t have even been allowed to play in a fecking friendly if he was having problems. An injury in a meaningless friendly could cost us points in a crucial league match, it’s ridiculous.

  2. I agree to some extent, but players love playing for their country so I reckon Jonny would have wanted to play.
