I have done my research pal, hence why I stated it as fact, not opinion.

Manchester united have had a higher average attendance every single year since 1947.

Between 1946 and 1949 United played at Maine Road whilst reconstruction work was being done on Old Trafford after the bombings in the war. In the first season, when City won the league, United had an average attendance of 4,662 more than City at their own stadium. In the second season, United had an average attendance of 12,165 more than City at their own stadium. In the third season, United had an average attendance of 10,109 more than City at their own stadium.

When United were playing in Division 2 during the 1974-1975 season, they still had the highest average attendance of any club in the country, including Division 1.

first off i’m a blue (yes i expect all you lot to start fireing away) and the fact you said you had more in maine road then we did is utter bollocks! in that time period on one our home games we had the highest attendance in english football history bar wembley fixtures, so your wrong mate (look it up). and our stadium is full every week, but so far this year the majority of away fans has let the attendance down. old trafford is 40% full of real rags, and the rest are tourists from god knows where. you call us bitter, but infact i’m much glad i go every week to a ground with atmosphere with fellow mancs rather than sitting their eating prawns sandwhiches with people that can’t even speak english or tell the referee to “fack off”. you can go on about your glory’s but i’d rather have a future then a past. PEACE you stretford pot hunters.

And why do you think that Fergie keeps quiet on the debt issue? Well he’s working for the Glazers and understands what they want – the focus on City’s rise, not the rise in your incredible debt. Expect more ticket price rises for the Glazers’ pocket until the day they decide they have sucked out all the money they can and take a hike with their carpet bag full of your ticket money. All this talk of debt management is just a smokescreen for what is really going on. Behind all the talk they are setting up themselves to make a big, big profit once they sell your great club down the road.

Everybody knows that United have not sold out their stadium on a regular bais for 2 years now. They are not recession proof. How can you trust a selective statistician from Stretford? How long is it since City won anything? 34 years. Well when we won the old division One in 2002 guess what trophy we got? Yes the same one Stretford picked up in 1967. Odd that isn’t it? It doesn’t count for us but it does for them. We all know things are changing but no doubt they’ll find something else to put up at Glazer Towers. If we put ours up for their debt we’d have to change the numbers every few minutes

Peter, if there are more City fans than United, how come they only fill their stadium when they play the big teams while Old Trafford sells out for every game despite being much bigger? I suspect you’re a City fan on a wind up. Only a fool would believe there are more blues than reds in Manchester. As is said in the article, we even had higher attendances when we shared their own stadium and have had bigger attendances for 70 odd years.

I must say whenever I travel to Manchester I always see Man City shirts but hardly any United – odd that? I am sure there are many United fans in Manchester, but there seems a lot more City.
