I saw this really great post today….

The claim of United now being ‘top dogs’ seems to be based on their extra league title. However, I would argue that it’s necessary to consider a club’s success in all tournaments before arriving at such a conclusion. Further consideration has to be given to the value of each competition (i.e, a Champions League victory is greater than a League Cup victory), therefore to fairly assess who really does sit on the perch, it is necessary to give a priority score to each tournament. The fairest way I could put this was:

European Cup/Champions League = 5 points for each tournament won.
League Champions = 4 points for each title won.
Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Cup = 3 points for each tournament won.
FA Cup = 2 points for each tournament won.
League Cup = 1 point for each tournament won.

I am not including the European Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup, World Club Championship or the Charity Shield, as all are more exhibition matches than proper tournaments.

If you tally Man Utd’s victories in each competition and multiply by the appropriate score, they reach a total of 120 points. They will score 125 if they beat Barca in this year’s Champions League final.

Liverpool on the other hand currently score 127 points, therefore in my completely impartial opinion, Liverpool are yet to be knocked off top spot. Sorry United fans, but Fergie’s work still isn’t done.

United regularly took over Maine Road in those days. I was only a baby myself so can’t really comment on why, but it’s nice to look back on video footage that proves Manchester has always been mostly red.

It seems David May is only in Yolkie’s back pocket because Yolkie pushes the United Nights business onto his blog/twitter following. United Nights is basically David May taking £20 off you to stand around with United fans and see Clayton Blackmore and a few others. As for the others, Yolkie has probably suitably courted them via the Twitter arena to get them to sign up for their indepth analysis of everything MUFC.

The guy is a persistant joke and this is not cyber-bullying in the least. If you pitch your views and opinions in public with a view to getting feedback from them, why does that feedback have to be solely positive.

At every opportunity, the memory of Munich 1958 is invoked by United to prop up the club and the club has profited handsomely off the dead and injured of the air disaster. Commemorative shirts and souvenirs, numerous books and documentaries, even the 50th anniversary was sold out for sponsorship from AIG (an insurance company ironically enough), the repetition of the heroism and bravery of the Busby Babes in order to build up the club brand and image; these are just a few examples.

And yet the club itself couldn’t even take care of the survivors who weren’t lucky enough to avoid career ending injuries. While Charlton was paraded at every instance as the gleaming example of the resilience of the Babes (and in turn, United) the unfortunate ones who couldn’t play anymore were cut from their main source of income and even kicked out of United housing along with their families! Even after United became a multimillion pound club, they refused to properly take care of the survivors, aside from token measures such as club cards to attend matches. Many of those players died years later poor and bitter at United and even at Busby.

United used every opportunity to exploit the air disaster, while pushing aside the very survivors from that disaster that helped raised their profile so high and turning their backs on the very Babes they supposed “honor” so often.

Torino suffered a similar disaster in 1949 where their “Grande Torino” squad was decimated to the point that the club never recovered and didn’t win another trophy until 1976 and the impact of the disaster is still felt to this day where the team is now in the Italian second division, down from being the most dominant Italian club during the first half of the 20th century. Yet you scarcely hear much about the Superga air disaster, at least not when compared to Munich 58.

Shameful.

Whatever you think of his claims – leave him. So what? Who knows of the validity of his source? Tabloids do this every day – heck, most of the stories are even made up on the spot without a “source.”

He might have made a false claim but what the hell; he’s apologised and you go and add more salt into his wounds. Things is, I KNOW you’re only doing this from the comfort of your computer. That’s why it is cyber bullying. On the redcafe forum, some have said personal things and you’re adding to it. It’s not a case of who’s right or wrong – this is oh so wrong. It’s cyber bullying.

You’re much better than this. Your writing is excellent and so is everything that comes with it, but this post was not needed. It’s cyber bullying as ‘Get a life’ points out – don’t deny it.

Certainly his Henderson claim seems to have foundation – he said that before any paper started talking about it and Bruce himself said United had enquired.

Personally I’m not bothered by people who claim to be ITK…people ITK never share a source so why bother asking! IF and it might be a big if, but IF someone ITK has genuinely confided something in when, why on earth would he tell us who that is? If it was me, I wouldn’t and I daresay you wouldn’t either.

When someone puts themselves up as an authority on United, they need taking down a peg or two when they attack a group of fans the size of redcafe.

As a blogger myself I understand that people calling you names and disagreeing with you comes part and parcel of it. Yolkie puts himself forward as someone who has inside information on United, so people are allowed to question his sources, especially when it’s apparent that he doesn’t have any.

We have a massive game tomorrow against our biggest rivals, we should be on the same fucking side instead of bitching about eachother on public sites which the Scousers are free to read and ridicule us.

For the record. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was those muppets at RC.

Focus on our club, our team and write about them. No one wants to read such rubbish.

He was awful. Looked like his boots were on the wrong feet. Worst player on the pitch by miles.

Half of them have full blown Stockholm Syndrome, mixed with genuine paranoia and a persecution complex.

The personal highlights for me are writing off anyone (the overwhelming majority) with a different opinion to them as ‘Sky generation idiots, believing what Andy Gray and the papers feed them’. I’m also particularly fond of their forum invasions. This Inter one is pretty good, but even more amusing was the invasion of the Boston Red Sox forum.

Love that forum.
