Clattenburg: Fletcher has only himself to blame for red card
Referee Mark Clattenburg has fired back at Sir Alex Ferguson after the United boss questioned his decision making on Saturday.
Ferguson was critical of Clattenburg’s decision to send off midfielder Darren Fletcher towards the end of the game, saying the decision was “absolutely ridiculous”.
Clattenburg has hit back though, claiming Fletcher has only himself to blame for making the challenge on Birmingham forward Cameron Jerome.
“It’s a second yellow card,” Clattenburg is quoted as saying in The Mirror.
“He was bollocked for dissent and then he got cautioned for a foul and then he cynically just trips him [Cameron Jerome].”
The comments are unlikely to settle Ferguson, who will find out today whether his comments will land him with another touchline ban.

If Fletcher’s challenge merited that second yellow card then the first challenge should have been a red card. All physical contacts should be punished, however feather light. We would then have a nice clean game fit for gays. Referees should be severely punished for being inconsistent. And that idiot linesman(so called referee’s assistant) Did he not see who scored the goal or was he not aware of the law.
