City’s lies exposed: Manchester is red and always has been
For too long the bitter blues over at the Eastlands stadium have spouted lies about our great club and it’s about time the truth was told.
The biggest and most idiotic lie of them all is that most Mancunians support City and all United fans are from outside of the City borders. You would think common sense would take hold of people being told such a lie, but alas the lie has spread and is repeated by Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal fans and plenty of other clubs around the country.
Even on the face of it, the idea that Manchester United, arguably the biggest club in the world, cannot attract a local following is absurd. City fans will tell you that all of United’s fans are glory hunters, but even if that were true, would there not be any local glory hunters? This simple logic escapes most City fans, that’s why they’re affectionately known as “The Liars”.
Now for the facts.
Manchester United have had a bigger average attendance than City every single for the last 71 years. the last time City had a higher average attendance than us was in 1939. You can check this for yourself at the library.
It’s not just because we have a bigger stadium either. We shared Maine Road for eight years after the war and still managed to attract bigger attendances than them in each of those eight years IN THEIR OWN STADIUM. City wouldn’t come close to filling Old Trafford today. They only fill Eastlands when they play United.
I’ve lived in this City for decades and not once growing up, going through school, or in any place of work have I ever experienced an environment that had more City fans than United. We outnumber them everywhere I’ve ever been. In some parts of the City centre it’s even possible to find more Liverpool fans than City, that’s how ridiculous the lies are, but they continue to spout them.
So the next questions is obviously: Why do they put out such a poor lie that’s so easily shot down?
The truth is that it only became an issue once we became successful in the early 90′s. Before that point nobody cared where anyone came from because it didn’t matter. We were “also rans” in the league every season so City didn’t have much to complain about. Ever since Fergie turned us into the team that has dominated the last two decades of English football, City have come up with more and more lies about us due to their jealousy and bitterness.
They needed a stick to beat us with and because we do have one of the biggest fanbases in the world, possibly the biggest, they’ve turned that around into a bizarre theory that every United fan is a glory hunter from London or abroad. They conveniently forget about the half a century prior to our success where we still had much bigger attendances, even when we were relegated to the league below them.
So the next time you hear someone tell you that most Mancunians are City fans, ask them where they’ve all been hiding for the last 71 years because I’d love to know.
United are, have always been and always will be the best supported club in Manchester.

Me mam’s family’s all CITEH which is ironic coz they’re from Urmston, which is closer to OT than CITEH of Manchester Stadium. Another thing is, at school most were United supporters, then 2nd most popular were Liverscum supporters, mainly coz a lot of kids came from Warrington

My old man said be a City Fan, I said bollocks , you’re a CUNT.
I’d rather shag a bucket with a big hole in it
Than be a city fan for just one minute!!
Hatchets and hammers, Stanley knives and spanners,

Good call. I’ve always thought this.
I am now 43. I was born in Manchester, grew up in Manchester, went to school in Manchester & have worked in around 15 different jobs all based… in Manchester. I come from a Manchester family of 6 kids & now have 15 nephews & nieces. I had 5 aunties, 5 uncles & 17 cousins. As so rightly put in the article, not EVER in any of these or any other environments I have found myself in have I ever been in a minority of Reds (apart from when we used to be crammed into a corner of that dismal shithole in Moss Side on away days of course). Where I work now there are around 30 blokes. There’s about 3 who don’t have any interest in football full stop & there’s a few odd balls who support peole like Bolton. There’s 5 bitters, 3 of which are from Stockport – shock! (irritating bastards more than ever at the minute since their stupid club sold their souls & they just all bent over & welcomed it) & there’s 14 Reds. Out of them, about 10 are season ticket holders & ALL local lads.
One thing in the article that is wrong is that Cideh have only just started making noises about this since the Fergie dominance years – not true, they were saying these things from the 70′s when I was a kid.
I can remember when we got relegated. The funny thing is that even then they had an inferiority complex to a then 2nd division side. They bang on about their loyal fans but I know for a fact that through the 80′s they had a hard core of about 18,000. We were pullin the biggest crowds in the country as a 2nd division side.
These things get banded around all the time by blues & after a while even people who don’t like football have that opinion. Our man mountain midfield general Roy Keane made the biggest mistake of his time with us with his “prawn sandwich” comment as the whole football world latched onto that & linked it with the already popular lies.
The truth will always prevail eventually & for every Red reading this lets start it on Wednesday night. Not only the men on the pitch either. Old Trafford has to emulate our 2nd to none away following, sing the Reds on to the final & knock Stupid Cideh & their pond life fans right back down to where they belong. Come On Reds!
