New City signings bizarre United claim

Manchester City’s latest signing Patrick Vieira has claimed that Manchester United have found it hard to dominate the Premier League as we used to, because of competition from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and even City.

The Inter Milan cast-off said: “I don’t believe United dominate the Premier League as much as they used to because now you have Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal plus City and Aston Villa, so many teams who can finish in the top four.

“And I think that has made it really difficult for United to dominate as they used to. They don’t look as strong as they did.”

It’s hard to imagine how a team can be more dominant than winning the league 3 seasons in a row. We’re the only team to have done it since the inception of the Premier League era and we’ve actually done it twice.

It took Vieira 9 years to win 3 titles with Arsenal!

He’s probably still sore from being dominated by Roy Keane time and time again when he was with Arsenal.

  1. Dominated by Keane time and time again? Interesting viewpoint.
Everyone else remembers Vieira taking on Scholes & Keane single handed and bossing the Utd Arsenal clashes for about 7 years

  2. GOONER GREATNESS

Shut up you moron you know nothing, Scum didn’t win 3 titles in a row… Greasy Ronaldo did… with out him your lucky to be in the top4 at all!

    Oh and PS…

Wiltord scores at Old shitbagtrafford and Arsenal Win the premiership… Dont remeber Keane dominating that game!

    STUPID FUCKIN BITCH

  3. He’s probably still sore from being dominated by Roy Keane?naaaaahhh!far from it!

  4. ahmed el hawary

in those 7 years that viera one 3 titles with arsenal, united one 3 as well. so your point is…?

  5. absolutely true mate..

tht guys a fucker just like his very own mancini who hardly knows english……

let him say cos thts the only thing he can possibly do…

we’ll show him once again who is the boss out there….

  6. go support your local teams glory supporting idiots.im a spurs fan and keane wasnt fit to lace vieiras boots .fact pace power skill.box to box.the best central midfielder of the premiership hisory as chosen on sky. henry 1 bercamp 2 zola 3 cantona 4 vieira came in at 7 you brain dead thick ginger fat idiots .get to moron trafford.

  7. Even the most ardent united fan, laying there gently masturbating and muttering ‘rooney mmmfp ….rooney … ohhhhhh’ surely can see vieira is right.

last season’s title couldn’t have been much closer, and this season is up in the air, with united not being most people’s favourite.

If that’s united dominance NOW [as vieira said, just to reiterate if you struggle with comprehension] then long may it continue.

“They don’t look as strong as they did.” disagree with that if you want, or continue wanking over your rooney posters :)

  8. As an Arsenal fan and as much as I dislike Citeh and didn’t want to ser him in that shitty team I pretty sure he meant this season.

  9. Keane dominating Viera time and time again? you must have been watching different games to the rest of us mate!

  10. Actually Ahmed, United won 5 titles during those 7 years.

  11. I imagine all the gooner’s commenting are still upset they never got to use their “50 not out” T-shirts after Keane dominated the game at Highbury and bowled you out on 49.

  12. I think what Paddy meant was that the premier league has become more competitive this year and any team would struggle to dominate how Utd used too. On top of that you have lost the best individual player in the world so have to play more as a team. PV4 will always be a legend to gooners but is now a shadow of his former self but still a great player.

  13. Streety

Good to see your maths are spot on for a thick northerner, if Arsenal one the league three times in 7 years how did utd win it 5 times?

The 50th game was also at old trafford where a diving rooney ruined the sale of the T’s.

  14. ahmed el hawary

5+3=7!!?? maybe. anyway they were both great players & made the Arsenal-United matches that more interesting. cheers

  15. Stretty,

When Utd can go a season only losing one match (let alone ZERO) you can talk. However, as both of us know, that feat will never be repeated (unless the new model AFC play the Wengerball for which they have been nurtured at the home of football). Now that’s what I call DOMINANCE!

  16. Stretty Ender your Article is about as average as your team are at the moment, wonder if united will win the league now they cant buy their way there, not sure if your future’s that bright either after your youth proved the other day their up to fuck all.

  17. Yep, Vieira was actually at Arsenal for 9 years. My mistake.

@Dgob: When your team has won the treble or even a European double, or even just a European Cup, then you can talk about dominance. That team of “invincibles” didn’t even retain their title.

  18. well done Stretty for getting so many gayners on your site! And looking at their comments you’d see how their focus has changed over the years – it’s gone from the wish to win trophies to how well they look on the eye and let’s not talk about the unbeaten season (even though they haven’t managed a back to back title season since the last millenium!!) I guess it’s understandable when your tbagger keeps you starved of silverware for half a decade!!
My outstanding memory of vieira is when he gave the ball away to Giggsy at Villa Park and played a minor role in the Greatest triumph in English and European football – The Treble.
My 2nd favourite is in the tunnel at the emirats where Keano gave him a piece of his mind and had ol’ viieira running around with his tail between his legs on the right end of a 5-2 pasting! Cheers. Keep up the good work

  19. isn’t it amazing that the gayners are proud of not spending money on players yet listen to any radio chat show or any transfer window and they’re calling for their manager to spend big. Bobby Duzzler, take a break from your rant, and remember that the greatest youth team (Beckham, Giggs, the Nevilles, Scoles et al) won everything and unlike wengers poaching of young talent from around Europe, cost nothing. Cheers

  20. Get over it Stevo, You`re like politics. Talking about the good ol` days. We (Arsenal)could go one better if we go back further in time to the 30`s when your lott where still learning to play footy. Face Utd dominance is history

  21. There’s a lot of ABU angry, bitter and frustrated Arseholes here. Vieira did not even strart with Keano, let alone win as much as him. Just to mention two, 1999 CL medal and one for the record books is the FA cup semi in the same year when Vieira passed to Giggsy who ran 3/4 of the pitch and from an imposible angle lastedthe bal n the left top corner. Ho manyCL medal did Viira win?
@ the spurs fan – you’re not worth answering. Your team is too small. United give your team a two and three goal advantage and spurs still concede five in the second half. That’s how small you are.
Dgob – Dominance is measured by throphies and not by one season wonders. So shut D gob.
@ Ian – thick northerner? How about this for thick. ‘If Arsenal ONE the league……………’. It should be ‘won’ you daft northern London prick.
LOL – we just love to see you all Arses frustrated watching us win the lot. How many times did Arsenal win the league (I did not want to embarrass you and ask for just the PL), the FA Cup and the CL?

  22. United fan here, but why is there so many ridiculous comments here?
some facts first: (sound like FSW!)
Sorry Ray D Red, Keano didn’t win a CL medal – he was suspended after picking up a yellow card in Turin and didn’t play – similar to Scholes who also has one CL medal.
Stevo – it was 4-2, but great memory. Keano telling Paddy V to pick on someone his own size. what a match!

Keano dominated the games till his legs went, then he struggled to keep up. Viera was immense in that time, providing the power and passion to help Ljungberg, Berkamp, Pires and Henry gel together. Arsenal’s invincibles was an incredible achievement, but, like all successes (99 included) was down to some luck as well. They also did little in Europe that year and we knocked them out of the cup. Arsenal have also never retained their Premiership crown, Utd have only failed to retain it once – when the invincibles won it in 2004.

Arsenal’s side look capable of competing with the best this year – cannot believe you got Arshavin for only £15mil, and can’t believe there wasn’t more interest in the lad. If Van Persie had got fit, you might have had a better chance of winning the league, but don’t know if you have the quality up front to do it now (likewise if we lost rooney).

    oh and for the record…

    mmph…rooney

    :)

  23. Hughsie, Keano does have a Champions League medal, likewise Scholes has two. You still get one even if you don’t play in the final.

Do you remember the semi final against Juve? Keano put in one of the greatest performances of his career to get us to that final, so he deserved a winners medal just as much as any player who played in the final.

  24. my mistake. apologies

  25. yeah, i was there. it was absolutely incredible. what a performance – gutted for scholes and keane when they missed out. Keane said that watching Utd win the Cup was one of his worst moments in football.
Just found out, to clarify, that 30 gold medals are given to the winning club (i assume it is their discretion to hand them out as they see fit).

Jonathan Greening also has a Champion’s League winners medal!

  26. objective view

arsenal havent won f@ck all for 5 years and counting.
manu have won three titles on the trot.

typical mouthy foreign gooner scum. get some english talent like rooney, rio, carrick, neville and scholes and some english fans. thats a start.

ps my mates and i are out in north london tonite and we like gooner girls…loosest girls in the country..ie your wives and daughters

  27. did saf not try to sign viera whilst he was a gunner? viera is or was a class player, i think people are taking his comments out of context. utd are struggling by their standards, beaten by leeds and drawing with brum today doesn’t really fill anyone with confidence. i think patrick has picked up on the erratic form of the top clubs and is hoping to try and put some positive spin on it for his own team. city have a good squad of players but maybe they lack a bit of mental strength.

  28. Silly Children.

Nice overreaction to Vieira’s comments. And I thought it was the scousers who were paranoid.

United may have won the last 3 titles but what Paddy was getting at was the fact that United didn’t breeze to those titles like 2000, 2001. Yes, you’ve won three on the trot but even United fans will have to admit that there wasn’t the element of ‘dominance’ that you enjoyed previously. How difficult is that to understand?

  29. Viera is a pussy and always was. You see his face when Keano faced him up in the tunnel after he had a pop a The Neviller before a match, Viera shat himself, no mistake.
Keane destroyed him and every other so called hard man that he faced.
As for the dominance issue, it’s to be expected that these ABU’s roll out this crap year in year out. These other so called big clubs could only hope to have the kind of “non dominance” that United have shown in the last three years, never mind the 17 years before that.
Viera was past it when he quit Arsenal, if anyone thinks he is going to be anything different at City, they’re kidding themselves.
    Fletcher>>>>>>Viera and thats a fact.

  30. thetruthaboutbirds

@objective view: Anyone who has to talk smack about getting girls is obviously not getting any, you tosser!

  31. I am an Arsenal fan and yes we have hit a barren run and you have won the last 3 but at what cost and on an equal playing ground? United have mortgaged their future and are now 700 million in debt. They had to sell Ronaldo and Tevez as part of that consequence. Man U have won more than Arsenal simply because they spend a stupid amount of money every year in an unsustainable way. Ferguson is a great manager but he would have won comparatively very little if he had spent the cash that Arsenal did! Man U are similar to Real Madrid in paying massive fees for players to compete, though to a lesser extent. Seriously, when was the last time Ferguson bought an excellent player for less than 20 million or so? Winning is still winning but when you buy the win it takes a little away from it,no? And, to both sets of fans a rational discusion is fun but insulting each is just childish. It is just a game even if it is the beautiful game.

  32. FACT – united have won the league for the last 3 years in a row
FACT – united are not dominating it this season

    get over it, losers.

  33. Didn’t Viera win the world cup and euros?

  34. RelaxManU … 700 Mil in debt was spent not on players but to ‘repay’ the Geezers purchase of Manu … thanks a lot to the *&(%ing shareholders / directors of Mancherster United Football Club (NOT Manchester United Inc.) … there is truth that we could be stronger with CR7 in the team, but I believe the mark of a great team is one who rises from the ashes of great players and managers to continue or re-take their place at the Top! WIP …

  35. … and when was the last time anyone offered a good player to SAF for under 20 million?! It is an unfortunate fact that fans and shareholders want an expresso rather than home brew success and SAF has done a great job balancing the two! Agree the Prof is a great players coach in developing young talents (whom he also purchases from other clubs) but therein lies the issue … Arsenal, a classy football club but a mostly empty cupboard (so far) :)
