Berbatov Named Player of the Year

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has entered the record books in Bulgaria by being named his country’s footballer of the year for the sixth time.

He recently became Bulgaria’s all time top goalscorer with a brace against Malta and he has added to his collection of honours by finishing ahead of Aston Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov to win the national award.

“I’m proud to have won the accolade for a sixth time,” said Berbatov.

“Last year was a successful one for me as I won the English title with Manchester United and I became Bulgaria’s record goalscorer. This makes me smile.”

If only he could find his goalscoring boots for Manchester United and be as prolific as he is for Bulgaria, we might start to feel that his £30 million price tag was justified.
