Becks: City will never be as big as United

David Beckham has reiterated the popular opinion about our noisy neighbours Manchester City. No matter how much cash they spend, they’ll never be bigger than Manchester United.

The Arab owners have already shelled out hundreds of million of pounds of exppensive signings like Carlos Tevez, Emmanual Adebayor and Gareth Barry, but Beckham knows it takes a lot more than that to become as big as United.

“City will never be bigger than United. Being successful and one of the most recognised clubs in the world doesn’t come from the money. It’s about history.”

History is one thing City will never have. Chelsea have shown that when you spend your way to the title the success is hollow, then after a couple of home draws the fans are booing the team off the pitch again.

As soon as the arabs get bored with their plaything, City fans will be back to going to the council house dressed as blue plastic seats again.
