Chants of “Carlos Tevez is a blue, he hates Munich’s” were sung inside the ground throughout the game. And Radio Manchester were forced to apologize to their listeners after some giddy City fans got into their van outside the Eastlands stadium and repeated the same sickening chants.

The irony lost on on them is that ex-City goalkeeper Frank Swift was one of those tragically killed in the disaster in 1958, so by mocking us they’re also mocking one of their own. One would imagine they would know a little about their own history, but ignorance is bliss as they say. Even Leeds, famed for their hatred of us, behaved better than City did when they came to Old Trafford earlier in the month.

Kids as young as five and six were seen with their arms out doing airplane gestures at United fans, presumably taught to do so by their parents.

The lesson to learn from this is that there’s one thing money will never buy for City and that’s a touch of class. While the club sticks with its small time mentality and its fans mock the dead, they’ll never be anywhere close to Manchester United.

It’s just a shame the media aren’t as quick to report this as they are about the Wenger song.

The impressive striker has been linked with a host of top European clubs, including Manchester United.

His agent Silvano Martina has revealed the huge fee, caused by a clause in his contract with his current club.

“He [Dzeko] costs so much, he has a clause of €40 million,” Martina told ESPN.

He’s skeptical whether a transfer will actually take place, but still follows the speculation.

“I follow it [the rumours] myself, but only in our country. I can say that for him it is premature to speak of the certainty of a transfer.”

United are unlikely to be his next club, as their spending will be severely limited due to the financial trouble the club is in.

Evans – 6 - Shines brighter when played alongside Ferdinand or Vidic.

Evra – 8 - Excellent as usual. Done for pace by SWP once but other than that he was fantastic.

Valencia – 7 - Created the first goal and could have created more. Always seems to find space for himself.

Carrick – 6 - Despite us dominating possession, Carrick did nothing to open up City’s defence.

Fletcher – 7 - Usual energetic performance. Let down by his midfield partners.

Anderson – 5 - Largely anonymous throughout.

Giggs – 6 - Played well in the first half, but didn’t get into his rhythm in the second.

Rooney – 7 - Started slowly and didn’t do much in the first half. Came to life when Owen came on and created space for him.

Subs:

Owen – 7 - Brought Rooney to life and actually caused City’s defence to panic. Should have started.

Diouf – 5 - Had one good chance to equalize but fluffed his lines and headed wide.

Scholes – 5 - No real impact.

Referee – 0 - Couldn’t have been any worse if he  was wearing a City shirt and singing Blue moon.
