Problem for Owen is 1) Rooney is playing so well 2) Fergie is favouring 4-5-1 these days.

Owen is actually our 3rd top scorer with 7, and he's contributed a vital goal against City and the hat-trick against Wolfsburg helped secure us top spot in the group.

Not a total waste of time, and when you get him on a free we haven't actually lost very much.

Personally I think Owen IS a decent signing thus far. It's only February and the fact each time he came on board, he did fairly well.

As Liam said, he came in free (despite the fact he was paid signing fee and the wages) therefore he ain't that bad. It's just a waste he played lesser than he should. To be fair, his injuries not as bad as it used to be.

I could have saved you a lot of time mate

'ONE REASON MICHAEL OWEN CAN'T GET INTO THE MAN UTD TEAM'

1. Wayne Rooney.

Fergie says he wont play them together and how the hell do you rest him?

Owens a big boy and regardless of the World Cup, 6 months ago he was staring down the business end of a season in the championship. Frankly, i bet he can't believe his fecking luck.

'He'll play his part' is how Fergie put it. It will be interesting to see if Owen gets a start if Rooney puts in one or two questionably performances e.g. Everton Away.

I agree with you but I think if plays more regularly, he has some chance of boarding the plane to South Africa and he may become a hero for England in the World Cup.

Completely agree with what you've said. I'd would be delighted too if he proves us wrong by May end.

I am not going to criticise you because I can see your points. I just don' think he was a poor signing because we had nothing to lose by signing him. As you point out, we paid nothing for him, even his contract is allegedly pay as you play. And although we have all wanted more from him, he has still had his uses which we may not have achieved without him. Firstly, that goal against City in the last minute, which we may not have achieved without him as Berbatov couldn't finish that match and Rooney looked knackered. He gave us some fresh legs against a tired City defence. The hat trick against Wolfsburg when we had no real strikers and he basically got us first place in that group and avoided the likes of Barcelona in the next round
